Nominations for Iona Old Boy Achievement Awards now open
Each year, two Old Boys are acknowledged – one senior Old Boy (40 years and over) and one young Old Boy (under 40) to celebrate demonstrated achievement, commitment to service, and the embodiment of the Oblate values that remain central to the mission of Iona College.
Our inaugural award recipients in 2024 set an exceptional benchmark.
The under-40 award was presented to Daniel Fox (Class of 2009), whose swimming career has seen him reach the highest levels of international competition, earning medals at the Paralympic Games, World Championships, and the Commonwealth Games.
Beyond his remarkable sporting success, Daniel was recognised for his humility, generosity of spirit, and the way he continues to embody the pride of being an Ionian.
The over-40 award recipient was Todd Fuller KC, (Class of 1984), whose distinguished legal career saw him appointed last year as Queensland’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
Todd’s leadership across the state’s courts and his long-standing service to justice stand as a testament to integrity, dedication, and the Iona tradition of “live, learn, lead and serve.”
Both Daniel and Todd represent the very best of our Old Boys as men of outstanding achievement, deep character, and enduring humanity.
In 2025, Iona College will honour two more Old Boys at the College’s annual Presentation and Celebration Evening, at The Provence Centre on 19 November.
We now ask all members of the community to nominate an Old Boy whose life after Iona is worthy of recognition by this prestigious award.
Nominees must be graduates of Iona College and will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Professional Achievements – Demonstrated excellence, leadership, or innovation in their professional career or field.
- Community Service – Meaningful and sustained contribution to community organisations, initiatives, or causes.
- Oblate Values – Evidence of living the values of faith, humility, compassion, and justice in both professional and personal life.
- Inspirational Influence – Serving as a role model for fellow Old Boys and current students, inspiring others to make a difference.
- Long-Term Impact – Achievements and contributions that demonstrate lasting significance.
Nominations
Nominations may be submitted by Old Boys, College staff, or community members. Self-nominations are also welcome. Each submission should include a completed nomination form together with a detailed account of the nominee’s achievements in relation to the criteria above.
A selection panel comprising representatives of the College, the Old Boys Association, and the broader community will review all nominations, with recipients to be announced and honoured at the College Presentation and Celebration Evening.
We look forward to celebrating the second year of this tradition and recognising Old Boys whose lives and work reflect the values and spirit of Iona College.
