Iconic digital transformation is more than meets the eye

College19 May 2026

Iona has undertaken a deliberate transformation of its digital systems to improve learning, strengthen communication, and simplify how we connect.

Two significant platforms sit at the centre of this work: The implementation of TASS and the introduction of Schoolbox, which has been re-branded as Iona Connect or ICON for short.

ICON is the College’s intranet, communications platform and future Learning Management System (LMS).

TASS has become a cornerstone of the College’s academic and operational systems. Its staged implementation has ensured stability and confidence for staff, students and families.

TASS is our ‘source of truth’ while supporting student records, attendance, pastoral care, finance, and academic reporting.
A key focus has been the introduction of the TASS LMS for assessment submissions, marking and reporting and providing a single point of data entry for teachers.

This approach reduces duplication, supports moderation, improves transparency for families, and allows staff to spend more time focused on teaching and learning.

While TASS is our Student Information System, the College identified the need for an intuitive, user-centred platform to bring systems, communication and learning together in one place.

This has led to the launch of ICON – a single digital front door for staff, students and families.

ICON replaces fragmented access points with a unified dashboard that brings together news, calendars, key applications, TASS access and Microsoft 365 tool.

Throughout 2026, College news and daily communications will transition into ICON, replacing traditional daily notices and email. Information will be communicated through the College App and will be targeted, more relevant, and better aligned to individual roles within the community.

ICON will also be home to our Learning Management System for all things teaching and learning.

Throughout 2026, Mrs Donna Elkington will lead the research and implementation process to ensure foundations are being established for class, unit and co-curricular spaces to prepare for a whole of College launch in Term 1, 2027.

Together, TASS and ICON reflect the College’s commitment to systems that are coherent, accessible and future-focused. Supporting a learning community grounded in faith, integrity, respect, excellence and service.
